Lost Creek is Connected!

Good News!

AT&T is now live with High Speed Internet 1.5 and 3.0 in Lost Creek Estates.  This is DSL through the copper lines in the homes already.

I was on last night. Net Flix seems to work great.  I did go direct from the box to by modem with cat 5 to reduce some loss of speed.

You can contact Justin with At&T at the summit store here: js169u@att.com Let him know you are from Lost Creek Estates he would be happy to get you set up.

I would like the thank everyone who participated in helping our efforts to get connected.

All of the residents of Lost Creek Estates and Surrounding area.

All the media outlets,  Google Fiber,  the FCC, USDA, The Commonwealth of Kentucky, All the Linked In  contacts.

Ongoing efforts to improve the broadband coverage include:
Insight/ Time Warner will consider running a new fiber down 146 with the road redesign. Insight is maxed out on Jackson road and can not expand west.

Shelby Broadband is also looking at partnering with the Henry County Water District or other companies to expand coverage in the future.

Thanks again for everyone who has helped and who are continuing to look at better options.

Petition signing

This is the first official post of the Connect Lost Creek Blog.
We live in a rural neighborhood consisting of 16 households in a .3 mile loop.

I also spoke with James Wilson with the USDA Rural Utility Service about the community connect grant. http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/RUStelecomprograms.html
Since some of Smithfield, KY has access to broadband our area would not qualify.
James had no further options other than taking a petition to providers.

Last night was exciting I visited with 12 of the 15 households (3 were not home at the time) in our Lost Creek Estates Subdivision.
Everyone I spoke with would like to be connected through a high speed broadband connection.

Some form of DSL or Broadband would be great!
Currently Satellite is the most common option. This poses many problems and even effects the appliance purchases.
With App controlled HVAC and Lighting, Smart appliances becoming more available more bandwidth is needed without connectivity and latency issues.
One neighbor cannot work at home due to the limited access.
Others have no or limited access to online learning for their children.
100% of the households expressed not just interest but excitement that there may be an option down the road.
There are options less than 1 mile away on 146 7 Jackson Road that could possibly expand.
I have contacted Chuck Hogg CEO at Shelby broadband http://www.shelbybb.com/ They came out and can not get a signal but could possibly add on and connect us to his network.

Many would even volunteer to help do whatever is needed to get connected.

I will keep you up to date with our latest developments.
If any one has any suggestions or knows anyone who could help we would love the help!
